Undoubtedly one of the most important numbers you should remember during your life is your place's Zip code. When you are dealing offline, sending letter or ordering things via mail, and when you are dealing online (ordering from websites such as Office 1000), people will need to know exactly you are from in a way that is easily distinguishable. Sadly, saying the name of the place you are in does not make any sense to some.
So Zip codes are needed. You probably know that. You cannot get a quote, for instance, from Office1000 without providing your Zip code. I can even say that it may be close in importance to your social security number.
But we are just human beings who forget numbers during certain moments. Our memories are not perfect and we can always get some help from other sources. If you have a computer, then finding out what your Zip code is quite easy. Google is there to provide you with the answers. If a computer is not available, someone you personally know can help. And if there isn't one available? A zip code directory will already do.
In a world that is increasingly being filled with so much information, we tend to forget things. Putting as much information as you can in your head is admirable, but people won't exactly scorn you for forgetting these things. They can only be a little disappointed if you forget to bring a zip code directory with you--because if you forgot to bring even a directory, let's just say that you will have a terrible time telling people where in the country you are.
