Are you looking for just the right type of storage for your files or media in case of fire? There are several types available in all different sizes with different tolerances to heat, humidity and water penetration. How do you choose the right one for your needs?
It is first important to determine what type of items you are trying to protect. Paper records are not as affected by the humidity and heat during a fire as would be information stored on media such as CD's and other computer related media. If you are protecting media type items, you must determine whether the item you are choosing is rated for media protection.
In our offerings of Sentry products, it is noted on each item whether they are rated for security, fire protection, media protection and whether they are waterproof or not. Do not assume that a product will protect your vital media if it doesn't explicity say it is media rated.
So... for example, if you have paper files or valuables that you simply want to protect from theft, you could choose a product that is for security purposes.
If you wish to protect your paper files from fire you could select a product that is for paper files or other valuables.
Media protection products should be carefully selected in order to ensure the safety of this type of item. Always make sure your selection is specifically noted for media protection.
No matter what item you choose, make sure you order something that fits your needs for protection and interior size.
