Listing has always been a good way to remind of us things that we would have probably forget--from telephone numbers, to what-to-dos, to shopping lists, and even to password lists (avoid making password lists though). It has always been to the rescue of us people when dear Memory seems to be abandoning us.
Aside its memory-aiding functions, I also find listing things to be a therapeutic and relaxing activity. Sometimes, when I feel bad about myself or about anything at all, I would list random things on paper, like the titles of movies, names of cities, Harry Potter characters (haha is it not obvious that I am crazy over the Harry Potter books?!), and other such things just to keep my restless hands on working. I find it as a useful way to release some energy and stress as well.
For me, simply listing things on paper is already fine. Others, however, would still take one level higher and decorate their lists, especially girls. Those I know would take down thee lists and put up some stickers. Furthermore, they would also use glittered gel pens or colorful markers with which they will write they want to write. Talk about girly teenagers. They like decorating things, but who am I to complain? It is for therapeutic purposes and they are practicing their freedom to self-expression in the first place.
Writing, in general, has always been a relaxing experience for people, whether it be as trivial as doodles written at the back of one's notebook or as intricate as making odes or haikus or even epics! It has always been a way for us to release what we have in our minds. Like what I said, it takes on different forms and listing things is one of them But whatever form you take on, writing will always be writing. It will be always sweet.
