Safety First

It is not uncommon to hear of accidents happening in the office. Injuries resulting from slips, trips, and other accidents, while they are not 100% avoidable, may be avoided if we only practice safety measures inside the workplace. There are a lot of things to remember and do to keep the office safe, but I am only listing some of them here. Be sure that your office follows safety standards as mentioned in the law. Electrical wirings should be in check, as well as things like your office furnitures and building structure. - Make sure that your office has a layout and design approved by national safety agencies so that in case of emergencies, like fires and earthquakes, an effective escape plan may take in place.
- There are a lot of electronic appliances inside the office, like copiers, fax machines, and the like. These tools naturally have electrical wires coming out of them. If you want your office to be safe, these plugs should not be littered all over the floor so that employees won't trip on them.
- It pays to invest in auxiliary things like step tools. You can't possibly access the ceiling and stand on your computer table and expect not to fall.
- Organize your workplace. The easier it is to move around, the less accidents you can expect.
- Handle electronic devices with care. A surge of electricity won't leave you alive. Trust me.
- For more things to take note of to ensure safety, I think this article from the website of James Madison University will be a big help.
