Of all the office supplies that we handle every day, I have found one of my favorites in a self laminating sheet of plastic. My favorite thing to do is to find new things that I can enclose in a protective layer of plastic to keep them in great shape forever! The best thing about self laminating sheets is that you don't have to have a special machine to use with them. All you do is peel the backing and stick it on.
Here are four things I RECENTLY used these self sealing laminate sheets for:
- My family goes to a lot of sporting events with girls in high school and playing sports. To save money, we buy family passes that usually pay for themselves within a couple of weeks of attending their games.
The problem? These handy PAPER passes get left in pants pockets, get wet being rained on, you name it. By the time the school year is barely a third of the way over, they are unrecognizable.
To solve this problem, before handing them out to the family, I laminated each person's sports pass with a heavy gauge laminate sheet.
- I have a lot of pictures of my daughter. Actually, because she is always randomly snapping shots of herself!
I love having them on my desk, but I am notorious for sitting my water glass and coffee cup on things that aren't very resistant to water rings. Laminating my favorite pictures protects them even from careless old me!
- There is alot going on in our house from day to day. Heaven forbid I would forget one's volleyball game, softball practice, soccer match, or a thousand other events I have to keep straight.
I laminated a blank calendar page and hung it on the fridge. Each girl is responsible for entering all of their activities that require me either in person or for providing transportation to practice.
They use a dry erase marker to write on the calendar so each month we can wipe it off and start over.
- Staying on the information zone of the refrigerator, there was another area lacking. The dreaded shopping list. How many times to you return from the store with your bags just to hear about what you DIDN'T buy at the store?
Problem solved. Laminate a list sheet that they can write their requests on for the next trip. If they don't request it, it doesn't get purchased!
A word of caution for those of you who go laminating crazy...
Once, when I went to the driver's center here in PA. they nicely informed me that I could not use a birth certificate that had been laminated where you could not feel the raised seal. I was there with my daughter to get her temporary permit.
Luckily, after explaining that I had received this particular birth certificate directly from our courthouse exactly that way from Ohio, and that you could certainly feel the raised seal, they let it go.
I laminate so many things, I would never have thought about that restriction. I am sure you have lots of ideas of your own. Happy laminating!
