My daughter is a cheerleader and we designed a scrapbook just for her sport!

By Lizzie Botticelli at 05/14/2007 14:35

There are so many wonderful ways to archive the pictures of your children doing their favorite things. My oldest daughter is a cheerleader, so we decided to work on a scrapbook together.

There are awesome stickers and embellishments out there to use. I generally like to use or make my own but this little set of cheerleading stickers that has a little uniform and sneakers with pom poms are too adorable not to use.

It is so much fun to do this with your children and it gives you some really good memories to look through when you are old and your children are grown. I find the best way for me to create my pages is using my own colorful paper backgrounds and sliding them into sheet protectors.

You can use lots of different themes for the cheerleading pages:

  • football field
  • baseball field
  • basketball court
  • gymnasium for wrestling matches
  • hockey rink
Since they cheer for so many sports, you can start with a background for that particular sport. You can cut out and decorate your own megaphones, mats, pennants, and so on. HAVE FUN!

Make your memories last forever in scrapbooks

By Lizzie Botticelli at 05/03/2007 13:36
I love making scrapbooks. I recently came across a large box of photos of my children and pets.

Instead of putting them in boring old photo albums, I decided to do some research and learn how to create my own scrapbook pages. There are some really neat tips and ideas that you can find.

Making your own personalized scrapbooks mean so much more than just sticking them in an album. You can take a pretty piece of paper and add photos with borders, or vellum pockets for mementos or cards. You can use pretty ribbon and many companies produce stickers and 3D embellishments that are adorable. They cover every sport and topic from cheerleading to vacation themes. After your page is created, you simply put the whole thing in a page protector and put it in the book. How easy is that?

Doing these wityh your kids is even better, because then you can look at the finished pages and know that you created them together with your own hands. It is a special way to spend quality time with your children and make something beautiful.

What to do when your cherished scrapbook ideas don't fit in a conventional scrapbook

By Lizzie Botticelli at 05/03/2007 11:16
Sometimes, the wonderful ideas we come up with don't fit in a traditional box. Same thing goes for scrapbooking.

There are a few things you can do to get around some hard to fit items. For example, you have the neatest travel brochures from your vacation...how do you get them in the scrapbook without hiding part of them. You may have a beautiful graduation announcement or invitations that need a special way to attach them.

You can make your own vellum pockets to custom fit your souvenirs. You can also use CD holders or sheet protectors. The latter are just clear plastic or poly, and you can add color and embellishments to make them match your scrapbook pages.

There are actually page protectors that feature built in panels on both the right and left edge that close to meet in the center, like a shutter and also ones that just have a fold over on one side. These would be handy to use to perhaps put a travel brochure in.

There are lots of really neat patterns and ideas to use for these special holders. All you need is a little imagination after you see the idea and you can vary it however you like to fit your needs.
