Happy fathers' day to all the fathers out there who are reading this post. If you are not a father but a child or a mother to your child, then do greet your father or husband as well.
I feel that it is just right that we honor our fathers during this day for all the hard work they have done. Words will not be enough to describe how good they have been to us. Without them, we wouldn't have lived (your mother couldn't possibly create you alone, you know!). Without them, we will not become who we are today. Even though some of us probably didn't grow up with a father, or some of us are not in good terms with them, let us take a day off from all this indifference or hatred or whatnot. This is their day.
On the other hand, many of us were privileged enough to have our fathers with us during the course of our lives, during which I am sure we all have accumulated a vast amount of memory that will last forever. Images from the photo albums will remind us this whenever we tend to forget, assuming that we want to remember. Remembering is sometimes a matter of choice. If we choose to deny these memories, time will come when we will really forget them. I just hope that you do not wish to forget the memories of your father, however bad they may seem to be. Those of you who have memories of them are lucky. Do not waste the chance to put your fathers inside your minds.
There is a reason why Fathers' Day is celebrated--aside from the commercial benefits that will come from it. It is to allow us to remember, remember, and remember. Happy fathers' day again.
