Me too. I read all these clever articles about organizing your office space, organizing your home, organizing your garage, organizing your life, and I wonder if I am truly the only one without an organizational bone in my body.My office is a complete mess. I have file folders stacked everywhere. Although they are colorful and pretty, they are not at all the organizing factors that I would like for them to be. Desk disorganization is the least of my worries. I have stuff all over the floor, cables running everywhere and the worst part is, I don't know where to begin. There are neat articles that tell you to completely clean out the space to get started, but I can't take it all out. I have servers that run constantly that can't be moved without disrupting the flow of internet connections, which means those errant cables are going to STAY jumbled and out of control.
I lost my sentry safe combination, which means I can't get to some of my important records. And yes, I am aware that you can get a new combination from Sentry. I promosie I will do that next (haha). I have the best plans every day to come in and tackle the pile in my basket, but I never seem to make it there. There is always one more thing that needs done first before I can do that.
I can't seem to throw anything away. I am not talking about empty envelopes or whatever, I am not THAT bad, just magazines, catalogs, stuff, stuff and more stuff. There is not one square inch of unmessiness.
I need some help. My life is too stressful to clean my office. I need some changes. I had to fire an office employee for stealing office supplies. I mean how boring is that? If I were going to steal something, I doubt I would put my career on the line for some A&W Products, Listo Pencils, push pins and a Royal cash register! What is the world coming to? How do people think you can clean your office up if they are walking out the door with your supplies, or maybe that is the plan. They distract me by making fun of my office and then take all the office supplies home. Most bosses wouldn't miss some paper clips, but a CASH REGISTER!?
I am getting sick from the stale coffee I drink every day. I don't even have time to play my favorite Soduko game. All I do is sit here behind my messy desk, try to trudge forward one pile of paperwork at a time, and drink more stale coffee.
If I could figure out a way to become rich or famous, I would do that instead. Of course, that may be kind of boring too, since then, people would follow me around everywhere I go and see the messiness that is my life. That would be pretty embarassing. I am really hoping that all of those things I have read are true about a messy desk meaning you have a creative mind. If that is so, I have a VERY creative mind.
I would love it if someone could give me an idea how to follow all of these wonderful organizing tips in light of my packratiness and lack of time. Maybe Someone would just like to come in here with a portable tornado or something. Maybe even just bring some fresh coffee.
