My name is Vicki and I am a packrat. That is what I would say if I went to a gathering of those who can't seem to realize that they can't keep collecting everything they see. Or, at least if you are going to collect it, learn that you have to organize it in some efficient manner so you will have a chance to actually use it.I don't know how many times I have bought something, especially all those kewl scrapbook supplies like the gorgeous papers that I can't resist, the colorful card stock to contrast with, not to mention ribbons, stickers and who knows what else.
Now, that is only ONE thing. Take that and multiply it by everything I see and you can see a bad pattern developing. Now, I have a large house, but every corner is randomly filled with this and that and there was no organization to it.
This means that although I have all this wonderful stuff, (let's just take for example the scrapbook stuff) when I go to sit down and make a beautiful scrapbooking page, I couldn't find what I wanted and spent so much time looking for things, I had no time left to make the pages.
I decided it was time to do that dreaded deed and ORGANIZE my stuff. I looked around for options and what I chose was some sturdy wire shelving to accomplish what no man has done before...get Vicki's stuff neat and organized!
My favorite feature? Well, the open wire design means I don't have to take everything everything OFF the shelves to dust them!! Oh man, it doesn't get better than this. It looks nice too with its black powder coat. You can put them anywhere and they look like they fit right in with the decor.
I bought some for the garage. Now I can find the quarts of oil I needed and, oh yeah, the funnel to put it in with. I actually bought a couple of industrial steel shelves for the garage as well, since they are heavier and the shelves were not open wire but flat steel shelves. That type was better for my tools and heavier garagy (I don't know if that is a word, but you get the picture) type stuff.
I bought some for the laundry room (actually two). Now, not only do I have a clean washer and dryer without laundry powder, Clorox, Downy and dryer sheets on top, but I also have a set to stack clean folded laundry for each person in the house so they can come get their clean clothes and I don't have baskets everywhere!
I bought some for the mud room. There are now organized shoes, softball gloves and sports equipment, and I haven't heard..."Mom, I can't find my glove and cleats" ever since!
I bought some for my home office. Now I not only have my ledgers and extra paper organized, but I have a nice looking plant shelf with some family pictures. The extra space means my desk is now uncluttered with extra supplies. I actually put my printer on it as well, which makes it nice, as it was sitting on the floor before that point.
Yes, I even bought several for the extra bedroom and now have a beautifully sorted array of scrapbooking materials. I bought some of the Safco corrugated storage bins to go on the shelves to divide stickers with stickers and beads and buttons and ribbon, and you name it. The bins have dividers available for the little stuff so I even separated them by theme!
You don't have to be a member of Shopaholic Packrats Anonymous to have uses for Safco shelving. All you need is something you want to organize!
