My product introduction for today is the grease marking pencil. This all purpose wax pencil has a myriad of uses. It was made in the mid to late 19th century by many of the same companies who then entered the wax crayon market later on such as Prang (the American Crayon Company) and Crayola (Binney and Smith). This versatile pencil is used for many things. It is most useful for writing on surfaces that are hard, non-porous and/or glossy like glass, porcelain, plastic, ceramics, photo paper and other polished or lacquered surfaces. It is also very popular among handymen, since it rarely scratches the surface it is marking on.
The grease pencil is manufactured in different forms. they made be encased in wood like a regular pencil. This type can be sharpened with a knife or a pencil sharpener. There is also the type that is covered in paper and sharpened by pulling a string which removes the paper in layers. This type needs no other tools to stay functional. The third type is the propelling form that is like a clutch pencil only with different lead like the Listo retractable grease pencil.
