In the university where I am at, I think it has already become a trend to wear IDs around the necks. Due to the stricter security measures imposed, everyone, faculty member or student, will have to wear their respective IDs in order to enter a building. There are colleges wherein this is just fine, but that particular one where I am right now is so strict when it comes to these trivial things. The funny thing is not the idea of always bringing IDs. When I was in high school, wearing your ID around the neck is the norm, so it didn't make much of a difference to me.
