In the university where I am at, I think it has already become a trend to wear IDs around the necks. Due to the stricter security measures imposed, everyone, faculty member or student, will have to wear their respective IDs in order to enter a building. There are colleges wherein this is just fine, but that particular one where I am right now is so strict when it comes to these trivial things.
The funny thing is not the idea of always bringing IDs. When I was in high school, wearing your ID around the neck is the norm, so it didn't make much of a difference to me. What is funny is that most of the students actually wear a lanyard of the same design!
Now that makes me laugh. You see, our university didn't supply us with lanyards that we can use to hang the IDs around our nexts, so we have to buy one on our own, but lo and behold, everyone bought the same lanyard featuring the university's logo and colors. It's quite natural to purchase such a lanyard, but it still remaind funny to me.
For the record, my ID strap is not the same as anyone else's. I bought it way back the new lanyard was sold, and now I think it would be a waste of money to buy a new one. I only need something to hang my ID with. Even a piece of rope will do. Haha.
