When Fire is the Enemy

By Blog Stories at 02/11/2008 10:39

it's bad enough when your important office documents and personal treasures are stolen by sick-looking thieves. That is why we buy expensive apparatuses like vaults to protect our belongings, right?

But what if the intruder is something--yes, 'something'--worse, something more powerful than the hands of these nasty thieves? What if these documents and treasures are eaten by the claws of fire? There's nothing we can do. These documents cannot be redeemed anymore, unlike when it was stolen by thieves. What is lost in the fire will be forever lost. There's nothing we could do about it.

Of course we wouldn't like that to happen, right? Imagine the job you'll have to do in order to get another copy of these papers! And, of course, imagine the money lost! While you may always put them in some security box in a bank, chances are, you'll always need them around you.

That is why it's always best to get your very own fire-resistant chest. With these chests, you are assured that they are safe from fire even though they are just in the comforts of your office.

For a small number of files, we have here Sentry FireSafe Waterproof Chest. It only has a volume of 1.3 cu ft and relatively lightweight. They're easy to carry around with you and perfect for those files that you need to access frequently. For high-volume containers, on the other hand, we have Sentry Fire-Safe Two Drawer File to do the fire protection chores. It heavyweight and high-capacity, obviously.

Now what you will only be worrying about are those pesky thieves.

Furniture Monsters

By Blog Stories at 02/10/2008 13:46
Choosing the right furnitures for your office or shop has never been easy. It incorporates a lot of planning as a considerable amount of your capital will go into it and it will also be deciding factor as to the general "personality" of your office, may it be commercial office, a typical home office, or an industrial shop. Good thing that Office 1000 here offers a lot of choices, among which probably lies the one that will fit your needs.

For this particular post, I'll be telling you about two furnitures that are fir for hardwares and industrial workshops. These kind of institutions need conventional design that is characterized by metal raw materials because of the need for durability. Most likely, these furnitures will be subject to heavy loads and stressful (figuratively) tasks so you wouldn't want them to fall out easily, would you?

Anyway, more of the furnitures.

Our first product for today is this Industrial Steel Shelving, courtesy of the ever reliable Safco. As you will see, this shelf is obviously designed for heavy-duty usage, as proven by its 725-pound-per-shelf weight limit. It stands at more or less 85 inches, and come in industrial dark gray colors.

To match this heavy weight monster, you might want to consider Safco's Task Master Work Trolley. For handymen, it will be a dear prize as it has a metal tray that will keep your tools within reach. It's height can be adjusted from 16 to 21 inches. It is heavy duty as well.

For more of your heavy duty needs, feel free to browse our catalogues.

More Seating Choices from Office 1000

By Blog Stories at 02/09/2008 11:48
Chairs. Chairs. Chairs. Since I have talked a lot about these things yesterday (see related post), I am going to continue talking about them here.

In an office setting, the absence of a chair would be unimaginable. How will you expect yourself and your co-workers to work efficiently if you are all tired standing up? Of course, when I say "office" I mean the conventional office, not those that really require workers to stand up.

For best work output, you do not need ordinary chairs in your office. What you would need are chairs that are ergonomic i.e., those that are designed to make its users most comfortable. We all have them here at Office 1000.

I'll be showing you in this blog post two chair designs that are of different use. There are other designs that can be found here, which you may also check through the search function.

One design that I will be featuring here is Safco's Choices Mid Back Articulating Seat and Back Chair. This is ergonomically designed to bring you comfort during your working hours. Its key features are the soft yet firm material used for the cushioning and the contoured back that will fit your spinal curve, preventing resistance. This is quite different from the chair I featured yesterday because this is not straight-backed. That chair would be better for a good posture but if you are already content with your posture and think that a chair like this won't affect it, then it's better to buy this chair than the other one.

If you are owning a commercial office, it goes without saying that one of your goals is the comfort not only of your workers', but of your clients' as well. For clients' and guests' chairs, I recommend Safco's Serenity Executive Guest Chair. As you will see in the image (the one in the left), this chair is well-cushioned at the seat and at the back, guaranteeing comfort for your clients and guests. The classic black design will give an air of formality and business seriousness to the office.

If you find that these chairs do not fit your taste, feel free to browse and check our other designs for workers and guests.

Straight

By Blog Stories at 02/08/2008 11:58
And so we talk about proper grooming. Specifically, we talk about proper posture. Why do we need to have a proper posture? The answer might be obvious, I know, but I am still asking anyway.

To have a proper posture somewhat gives a person a sense of self-confidence. It gives anyone a good impression and in a world that is highly competitive (as competition is now global), striking a good first impression is important if you want to attain your goals. You do want to attain them, do you? Then it's time to fix that posture. That's the first thing you'll have to do.

Aside from the impression a good posture gives to its wearer, a good posture also promotes good sports performance. Take golf, for example, where a good stance is the key to the game. When you have poor posture, don't expect to even go near Tiger Woods.

So why am I telling you this, anyway? Well, fixing your posture isn't something that can be done overnight. Sure you may be able to correct your posture for a few minutes but I bet you can't for a whole day--unless, of course, you naturally have a good posture.

With constant reminder, however, you'll be in good posture in little time. SO how are you going to do it? Of course you'll have to get used to it. Buy a straigh-backed chair, for one. Hire someone whose only task is to keep track whether you are maintaining a straight body? Nah. That's too impractical. What you need is something that is more sustainable yet will still deliver what you need. A perfect materialization of that is the back support. It's wearable and it will force you to wear a correct posture--or suffer the consequences.

Weird Imaginations

By Blog Stories at 02/06/2008 13:08
We have enough space on this planet, but why does it seem that we do not have enough space?

Why does it seem that we do not have enough space to walk on, to move around on, to put our things on. Why does it seem that everything is so cramped up? Why does it seem that there is no free space? Well, it's just probably me. But I feel like that this world is getting smaller and smaller, populations are growing exponentially. By the time we know it, there's no more space left for us to move in!

Just a curious thought, what will happen when that time indeed comes? Oh no. That would be practically the end of the world as resources are already used up. It'll be probably legal, by that time, to eliminate human beings to cut the population. Ugh. That's a morbid thought. Everyne of us will have to purchase our own safes for fear that our treasures be stolen-that is, if you can lift it on your back.

Where will we get our food? Where will we get clean water to bathe in and drink? Where will we have our shelter if practically all space on this planet is occupied by a human being? And where will we put our trash?! If that really happens, I'm sure that even these high-volume trash bins won't do us any good. That would be pandemonium!

Anyway, it's very far from happening in the near (or even distant) future as the world only has a population density of about 50 persons per square kilometer. So, probably, at the rate we are going, human beings would have probably been extinct or, following science fiction, we would capable of living in space colonies by then.

Ah the wonders of boredom. You could dream endlessly of thought that are otherwise impossible. Well, should 'dream' be the right term? The thoughts I have put here are more of nightmares than dreams, aren't they?

Mr. Bench

By Blog Stories at 02/05/2008 09:29
I like benches. How about you?

Benches, for me, give an emotional boost to the atmosphere of any place. Probably I've just had enough Hollywood movies, but a lot of things--both the good and the bad--happen when you are sitting on a bench. Sometimes, benches will intensify a solitary feeling when you are along sitting on one. From a bench, you'll see a lot of people, in groups or in pairs, running or walking past you. It is during these times that you will get envious because they are having someone with them and you do not.

That is not always the case, though. Sometimes, sitting on a bench alone will make you reflect on what you have done in the past and what will you be doing in the future, or about the people around you, or the society around you, or what not. Being alone sometimes allows us to make love with our pens and paper. Personally, I find it difficult to think of what to talk about or what to write when somebody is around. It makes me feel conscious. I dunno.

It isn't all about being solitary, anyway. On benches, we also get to share the sweetest moments of our lives. It didn't happen to me yet, since I prefer not to display my romantic affairs in public, but I'm sure you know that some people prefer to show of their romance with their partners on these (uhm...blessed?) things. On benches, some of our older fellow human beings spend time with nature, feeding the birds, enjoying the sun, living life...

During these moments, we realize that we tend to overlook things. We tend to not recognize these stuff have always been around to share with us the saddest and happiest moments of our existence. True, these benches may not be living, but I'd like to believe that, somehow, we have a companion just watching underneath us--the good ole bench.

How do you Like it Clean?

By Blog Stories at 02/04/2008 09:47
On the downside of human civilization, we are leaving so much trash that our planet is taking pains to handle. It is unwanted and yet inevitable and it can also be a source of displeasure among a nation's citizens.

For the richer nations and cities, maintaining a clean and hygienic society is quite manageable since these nations and cities have the financial capacity to recycle this trash or put it somewhere far from civilization (though this does not solve anything, mind you).

For the poorer ones, however, this may prove to be difficult. In Third World nations, there are sections in the city, especially those in the slums, that are filled--yes, FILLED--with mountains and mountains of trash. The local governments of these areas fail to remove the trash or, at least, educate the residents to be responsible not to throw their trash anywhere as they please.

It's all a matter of education, I believe, that will make these citizens throw their trash in the proper places (like wastebaskets [must edit anchor text]

) rather than in the streets that could possibly clog the sewers and may lead to serious floods, which may put the lives of these people in peril or may simply put the area in bad light.

Whichever the case, the losers here will be the citizens and always the citizens. Whatever they plant is what they reap. I sure hope that the readers of this article, i.e. you, are decent and responsible enough to dispose things in the proper venue. After all, we here are educated people and we need to utilize our education for the best of everyone.

(Office 1000 offers a lot of styles of garbage bins fit for different functions such as outdoor bins. Do your part in proper waste disposal and check these items out.)

Humans and Machines

By Blog Stories at 02/03/2008 13:09
Back then, when everything is done manually, a company's life fully depends on the quality of its workforce. As this workforce are in charge of everything, such as the gathering of raw materials, the manufacturing process, the distribution of the goods, and the inventory and accounting of sales and profits, it is reasonable to say that.

Today is still like yesterday, for some chores are still done manually. However, thanks to computers, work is much much more efficient than before. Work is now faster and more cost efficient than when done manually. The gathering of materials is still headed by human beings but now with the indispensable support of these monsters with gears. And the manufacturing process? Machine operated. Well, at least those who can afford the initial purchase of these beauties. Through machines, communication between departments are easier, thanks to LAN system (speaking of LAN systems, do check out these LAN racks and other LAN rack accessories), and tedious chores like accounting are done digitally.

Everything in place, the scary question now is: "Will machines soon replace humans?" And it is not an unintelligent question at all. As machines get to hold positions originally occupied by human beings, work become more efficient but these human beings lose jobs. Probably one good example is diamond mining wherein machines are now starting to mine and humans are left to sort out the machines' products. In effect, the former miners now lost their jobs to these geared beasts. On the brighter side, however, companies make profits because machines do the work faster and are trustworthier.

Will machines soon oust human beings? It sounds like a question taken out of a science fiction story, right? But I cannot give a definite answer. They probably will. They probably won't. Who knows? Humans made them but they will probably take over. Maybe not. But for now, let's just enjoy the efficiency they bring.

Picking Pics

By Blog Stories at 02/02/2008 12:36
Who's a camwhore here?

I dunno about you guys, but I certainly am. I am not a narcissist but I do like taking pictures of myself. You know, playing with facial expressions and all. I am not much of a narcissist since I do not care much about how I look like in a picture--I just want to be in a picture. You know what I mean, right?

And it's only not myself whom I like taking images of, anyway. Point and shoot. That's what I do. Get your camera phone and start aiming for pictures at practically everything. I am no professional photographer nor do I have any high-end camera so the pictures, in general, are of poor quality--but I am satisfied with what I do and that's the goal of every hobby isn't it?

It's a good thing that everything's digital right now so I need not worry about buying films for cameras that are too expensive (not to mention that you cannot see them until you have the film developed) but I guess it's just a matter of choice since some photographers would still prefer the traditional films.

And you know what's better than taking photos? Putting them in some sort of gallery! Well, right now, I'm keeping everything in a digital gallery (i.e. my computer) but I'd definitely want them stored in albums or holders for keepsake--hey, with the many photos I have stored, I'll be probably needing more of these extra photo holders from Office 1000! So much for hobbies. Haha.

The coolest thing about having hobbies and refusing to be professional about is that you're free to do it without the negative comments of everyone. Criticisms are good but with taking pictures? Forget it.

Morality and Protecting Yourself from the Immoral

By Blog Stories at 02/01/2008 11:53
It is perhaps just the nature of any living organisms to take advantage of something that is worth pursuing--even if it is not the fruits of their labor.

From the day living organisms came to be here on Earth, there has always been a squabble for resources that this dear planet of ours yields. Prehistoric predators, for instance, would fight their way out to get the weakest of their prey only to be thwarted by other scavengers. From time to time, these same predators would compete with each other when food is scarce and those left are not enough for everyone.

When animals do this, it's called survival of the fittest. It is not considered evil or immoral since it is perceived that these beings do not have the capacity to think intelligently and, hence, think what is morally right or wrong. It's another case with humans.

When humans kill. It is evil. When humans steal. It is evil. When humans commit wrongdoings, they are evil. But, let's face it, a crimeless society is just too utopian for me, don't you think? That's just plainly impossible.

What can be done, of course, to protect yourselves from the evil these humans produce is to put the necessary, well, protections to safeguard you and your properties at hand. And as your dear old salesman here at the Office 1000 (you expected this, didn't you?) blog, I suggest that you check out these safes and vaults of ours. Aside from the protection they give to your precious belongings, they will also prove to be good protectors of yourselves when you are under siege by, say, a murderer.

Morbid thoughts, eh?

These vaults come in electronic lock and combination lock varieties, both fire-resistant.
