Organizing the Cables in Your Office

By Blog Stories at 04/28/2008 07:37
When we talk about highly disorganized home offices, one thing that will come to our minds is paper. Tons of paper littered around your home office will surely make it very unappealing to the eyes. Piling these papers carefully by the side of your office or discarding those that are unneeded will make it more organized.

However, paper is not your only 'opponent' when it comes to office disorganization. Electric wires can also make your home office look like an abandoned warehouse. Yes, I mean wires from your personal computer, your fax machine, your air conditioner, and other electronic devices that you need for your office to function properly. Lying on the floor, these wires just doesn't make your office messy. It can also be a hazard for anyone as people may slip on the unguarded wires. They may not just slip. They may also be electrocuted.

A way must be found out to keep these wires out of sight (and people out of danger), just like how are ways found to ensure the piles of paper do not hinder movement in the office. Good thing such organizing systems are already around. An example is Rand's EZ Hidewire Wire Organizing System from Ronsonic.

The Hidewire Organizing System works by using micro hinged polymer channels that will group your wires together. Once grouped, it may now be mounted to wall and painted so that they wouldn't be that visible.

With the Hidewire Organizing System, two things are accomplished. One, your office looks less cluttered and more organized; Two, and more importantly, safety inside the office is ensured.

Why do Many People LIke Glittery Things?

By Blog Stories at 04/26/2008 12:53
I cannot give you a certain answer myself, that's for sure.

It's been a curiosity of mine fairly recently. Some people, when creating their scrapbooks, like to put in lots of glitters on some pages. Now, what is it with glitters? Why isn't it as attractive as when you put in bits of used newspapers damped in the same color?

Why do people give jewelry higher value than anything else? You know you are facing someone affluent (or a show-off) when he/she is already turning the color of his jewelry. Aside from their rarity, it's most probably because of their shininess, or their glitter. But what is it with glitter and shininess that makes something more valuable than non-shiny things?

It is my hunch (yes, it's just a hunch) that it's because shiny things reflect light that goes into it. When light is reflected, it turns back to our eyes, and our eyes naturally like light.

Moreover, these shiny things emit light of their own, so when that 'mixes' with light, you have a 'colored' light going through your retina. When many light beams go to your eyes at different times, that's when, I guess, we are attracted.

It does seem to be a very simplistic explanation, but I believe there is some truth in it. As for a scientific explanataion, I guess a psychologist would be the best person we should ask.

In case you are wondering, Office 1000 also has a lot of shiny, glittery, attractive in our inventory that we will show you later on.

The Walkman

By Blog Stories at 04/25/2008 11:18
They say that a product is a success when it reaches the point when people use the brand name to describe the object instead of the name of the object itself. In short, a product is a success when it becomes a household name. One such product is Apple's iPod. This sleek gadget from Apple will let you listen to gigabytes upon gigabytes of music downloaded from Apple's iTunes store.

Before the iPod, however, there is one brand name that really caught people's attention. In fact, that name is still used by its manufacturer to label its latest look. It's Sony's Walkman.

It was the year 1979 when the first Walkman went on sale in Japan. Back then, it only used to play cassettes, the then-standard medium of memory storage. The very first model did not have the record function; everything was playback. Why it was called 'Walkman' was obvious: it lets you listen to music wherever you are. It revolutionized the way people listened to music as it allowed them to carry whatever music they please to listen to with them. Say no more to radio players that tell you what music will you listen to.

Walkman was never out of the running. Cassettes are gone, but the Walkman is still here to give you music, now in mp3 form. And there's an additional bonus, too, because the new Walkman does not just let you listen to music, it lets you play videos and see photos as well.

What's its name again? It's the Sony Walkman MP3 Player with Video.

Spray It

By Blog Stories at 04/24/2008 16:05
When working with scrapbooks, one important thing you have to take note of is the proper use of adhesive. Putting adhesive the wrong way may destroy your scrapbook and all your hard work. Like with paint, an even distribution pattern of adhesive is important, especially with lightweight surfaces. You won't want one corner of your surface to be coming off when another side is firmly sticking. That would, most probably, end with the medium being torn if it is paper.

You won't want to have so much adhesive on the back of your surface, either. Imagine if it is liquid adhesive and you put so much of it at the back of your surface. I can see three bad things will happen when you do this. First, when it dries, expect the surface (if it is paper or anything like it) to be stiff. The flexibility of the light surface is gone. It would be like you're working with cardboard.

Or it may be that the glue marks are seen from the front. What a nightmare. The surface (again, if it's anything light and delicate) will have wrinkles on it where you have put so much glue.

Or it may be that the excess liquid adhesive will make its way to the edges and leak. That is not a good sight. When it dries, you'll see all the glue markings scattered all over your surface.

Krylon Spray Adhesive tries to solve those problems. After all, like with paint, having adhesive sprayed is better than brushing it on the surface. Using a spray, the distribution of the adhesive will be more evenly distributed and you will immediately see when you put enough adhesive, thus preventing leaks and wrinkles.

When you can help it, spray it.

Writing in Darkness

By Blog Stories at 04/24/2008 15:38
I am always told off by my aunt when I try to write in darkness. This happens when electricity turns off in the middle of the night for unknown reasons--and I am in the middle of doing something important--like filling up documents. I could've put the work for a later time, but when will the lights go up once again? I cannot wait until tomorrow. There's still so much to do.

There are also times when one just has to write something during the night inside the car but the light just won't turn on (why is it that they don't turn on when we really need them the most?). Usually, you will just have to do it with the guide of the light coming from you car's clock. But that is so dim.

I cannot blame my aunt if she tells me off for being so stubborn. After all, trying to write or read something in darkness can really be a pain in the eyes. Why, this might just lead to the eyes' degradation. It's good if there is an emergency flash light around. But what if there nothing in sight?

This is where Autopoint's Nitespot Ballpoint Lighted Pen comes in. This pen comes with a lighted tip, assuring that your writing will be lighted and your eyes won't hurt. This will be useful in the cases mentioned above. And it does not end with writing in darkness. These pens make good replacements for flashlights when the latter is not around as well. Flashlights are still better for most purposes, though. The Nitespot Lighted Pen comes in silver matte finish. Nobody would know the difference until its light is turned on.

So come on and give it a try. This is our best buddy at night.

Pleasures

By Blog Stories at 04/21/2008 13:42
I am not a fan of any sport or sporting event. Probably the sport I am most fond of is soccer, but I am not that crazy about it to the point of going to the games. Watching them on TV is just fine with me. I watch volleyball and basketball games once in a while, but, like soccer, you won't see me in the games, unless I am taken there for free.

Some of you would probably not agree with me, but I feel that I am fortunate enough not to get hooked much with these sporting events. I feel that, by being so much hooked, I am compelled to follow these events. I am not saying that it is bad. It is actually good that a person is hooked to something like sports instead of other things like illegal substances. I only feel that I am fortunate because I do not have to follow everything that is going on in that world. As much as possible, I want to live in my own world (who doesn't?) and not get trapped in someone else's, but I get my addictions sometimes as well. We all have addictions.

Anyway, if you really think that you have to follow things then Office 1000 is, like always, the place to look for stuff that will get you through games. For instance, we have this Uniden Handheld Racing Sport Scanner for all of you NASCAR fans. With this handy tool, you can listen to the drivers speak with their crew in real time, perfect to those who want to know what their favorite teams have in mind.

Sporting events are fun. Addictions are fun--as long as they belong to the good kind. Have fun in everything that you do. Just remember to straighten out your priorities.

Seven Good Reasons to Buy A Red Telephone Box

By Blog Stories at 04/21/2008 10:54
Why would you want to buy something like this red telephone box and install outside your building? I can think of seven reasons to do so. Here are they:
  • Installing a telephone box adds weather resistance to your phone. You know how weather changes drastically these days, and electronics are sensitive to such changing conditions.
  • It protects your entry phone from vandals. Just how irritating is it to go into your building one day just to find out that people have messed up with your dearest entry phone?
  • It protects your entry phone from unauthorized use? You sit down calmly on your chair, working decently, earning decently. Then, suddenly, the telephone bill comes and you are astounded to find out that calls were made to locations you probably haven't heard of. You are then compelled to pay the bill because you left your phone unguarded. With a telephone box, you will avoid such situations.
  • A telephone box adds some sense of importance to the phone, especially if it's color red like this one. Putting it in a red telephone box adds respect to its owner (you) just like what a red telephone does.
  • Having a telephone box assures that the phone inside it will only be used for emergency use. Nothing could be more annoying (yes, that includes the situations mentioned above) than when you are trying to contact the phone but couldn't because someone on the other line is in idle chit chat.
  • Let's face it. Telephone box are cool. Red is cool.
  • You'll make people here in Office 1000 happy. Don't you like to see others happy because of you?

Wireless

By Blog Stories at 04/18/2008 14:01
It used to be unexplainable to have to two things interact without having nothing physically connecting them. This is why much about fortune telling cannot be explained and only attributed to the divinities. Thanks to electromagnetism, however, we begin to understand this phenomenon of connection without physical connection.

This has led to the invention of tools that will benefit generations to follow. Having wireless communication, for instance lets anybody free to move as long as he/she is in an acceptable range, allowing the user to do things that couldn't be done when there were wires. Also imagine the clutter of wires now gone!

We here in Office 1000 reflect that modernity and try to give you the relatively latest items at a reasonable price. Just like this Hands Free Micro Size Bluetooth Headset from JWIN. Bluetooth technology allows you to make that call without having to take your mobile phone out. JWIN's Bluetooth headset complies with international standards. See the product page for the specification details.

When not in need of a Bluetooth headset, a simple cordless phone system like the DECT 6.0 Cordless Expandable Keypad Phone System with Digital Answering System from Uniden will do the trick. What separates this system from many others is that calls made here are crisp and uninterrupted by other electronic devices because of the DECT 6.0, which uses voice-dedicated 1.9GHz frequency.

Office 1000 is a haven of wireless gadgets. Feel free to check out our catalogs to see more of them.

Fire-Proof Gun Vault for Sale

By Blog Stories at 04/17/2008 14:59
There are other things aside from cash, jewelries, and documents that you have to protect from thieves. Aside from these obviously important things, there are some items that you have to protect because of the danger it may start. No, I am not talking about something spectacular as weapons of mass destruction (WMD), but something less dangerous--but still dangerous--items like your personal firearms.

YouTube Video

Reasons for keeping firearms vary from person to person. One thing's in common, though. You have to keep them somewhere safe. When you think about it, you're not only protecting your guns from intruders, but you're also protecting your children from getting hurt if they ever get hold of these potentially dangerous items. Meanwhile, putting your firearms in a fire-proof case will protect your community from great fires that will arise when your ammunitions explode in the fire.

We've got something here in Office 2000 that will do those three tasks. It is in the form of Sentry's Gun Safe-14 Gun Capacity-LED Electronic Lock. It's a modern vault that uses fingerprint technology to protect your guns. This makes sure that only you and the people (programmable up to 7 people) you authorize will be able to access the contents of the vault. And with heat resistance up to 1400 degrees Fahrenheit, you are assured that your vault will be safe from most fires. Not into fingerprint technology? Then you may also use the traditional way of entering PIN to open the vault.

Order from Office 1000 and have shipping and inside delivery absolutely free. Protect your belongings, children, and your community now!

The Art of Writing

By Blog Stories at 04/15/2008 08:54
Calligraphy, as defined in Wikipedia, is "the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner"--or simply the art of writing. In our day-to-day work, we write lines upon lines of words to make short notes, sign documents, and even create long informal letters when we run out of printer ink. This has led us to forget to appreciate art in every stroke of the pen, in every character we place.

Each different culture has its own style of writing artistically. East Asian calligraphy is marked with the use of the ink brush. In the region, it is a very important art, considered a form of painting (This is obvious when you go to one of those oriental homes with a series of handwritten letters framed and hung on the walls). Islamic calligraphy, meanwhile, does not focus on the spoken word but focuses rather as an expression of the Islamic spiritual world. No wonder it is forbidden in Islam to translate the Arabic text of the Qur'an to any other language. Most recently, there is a new category called digital calligraphy, or obviously the art of writing through computers. Other notable kinds of calligraphy are Indian, Tibetan, Persian, Mayan, and Western.

To write artistically, or even not artistically, one must have tools. These are tools that will allow the fluid dispersion of ink, and will serve as the material on which the ink will be dispersed--pen and paper. Different combinations of pens and papers create different outcomes. For best results, use the calligraphic pens sold here in Office 1000.
