Scrapbooks have been widely used by parents to record the precious moments in their children's lives. From the moment that their children were born, some parents have taken it as their personal mission to record every single notable event, such as the first words, first steps, first birthday, and the like. There's nothing wrong with this practice. We all become kids only once in our lifetime. It is just imperative that we record this for future purposes. What I would only like to say is that we can still bring this idea a level higher and make sure that the children are involved in the scrapbooking process.
It is their lives getting recorded after all, so I think it is only fair that they have something to say about the scrapbooks' designs and contents. I'm not just talking about sharing and brainstorming ideas with them. I also mean getting them involved in the actual process of creating the scrapbooks.
You just have to make sure that conditions are safe. Make sure that the materials used are toxic-free. Writing and cutting materials should also be kept away from the children's reach or, better yet, provide them with children-friendly versions of these tools, like children's scissors and such.
Come to think of it. You are not only giving your children the power to think and decide for themselves. Scrapbooking also becomes a good venue for you and your children to bond together.
How can you ever work alone if you know you're missing that possibility?
