Anybody who has experience in film-making knows that creating visual masterpieces is no easy feat. Creating live action films alone is enough to make anyone lose a dozen pounds and thousands, if not millions, of dollars. Many things can come up during a production of a film. Your actors may not come up (that would be a great pain, I know); you have to worry about a lot of things such as costumes, lightings, make-up, and many more (imagine what your appointment book will look like!); and like what was said above, it can cost you quite a fortune.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCUJT_1H5jo
Animated films are no better. They require computing machines whose powers may not be seen in an everyday computer. It also takes a lot of time, and it takes a lot of skilled animators to finish one short.
But human beings are resourceful. They want to make films done. They want to make them easily done. And they want to make films that do not cost much in the pockets. The answer? Create machinimas.
Machinimas, or machine cinemas, are basically animated shorts created by developers using interactive 3D engines rather than professional animation software. If you do not have the necessary resources, how can you create a high-quality live action film? How will you be able to create animated movies from scratch?
Usually, users create such content using computer games. They create stories out of the original context of the games. The environment generated in the videos may not be exactly like what you expected, but a good movie is still a good movie. Just look at the music video above, which was created using the game Sims 2. I even saw a remake of the hit movie "Titanic" using Sims 2 animation!
So if you think you can create your own movies but don't have the necessary resources, try going machinima!
