You've probably heard of the "Betty and Veronica Syndrome", a condition in which the protagonist of a story is torn between two potential lovers, but fails to choose which of the two he/she (the protagonist) really likes. It was named after Betty and Veronica who are main characters in the comic series Archie.
In the series, which started in the early 40's, Archie is forever choosing between these two rival women. In the right corner, we have Betty Andrews. This blonde beauty is surely anyone's sweetheart. Girlish yet boyish, Betty does not say no to any challenge she faces. She's also intelligent--what else should you ask for? I cannot believe that Archie still hasn't chosen Betty over Veronica.
In the other corner, we have rich and spoiled Veronica Lodge. Armed with all the money in the world, this lady is known for her extravagant purchases and actions like, say, filling a swimming pool with mineral water, or going to some far-away land just to do some shopping. Why is Archie falling for her. Is it just because she's rich?
The funny thing is, Veronica and Betty are still friends despite their rivalry. Why not, when they actually look like each other? They have their differences (and major ones at that), but that doesn't prevent them from being best buddies.
Like in any "Betty and Veronica Syndrome", it would be advisable if Archie would decide once and for all. Because of Archie's failure to decide, the two girls are almost always at war, devising ways to make sure that the other doesn't make a move towards our guy. At least, when Archie finally chooses, whoever won't be chosen will have to move on. I'd rather that he choose Betty but, if not, then that's just fine ith me. Just choose!
In the meantime, Archie should purchase an appointment book so that he doesn't invite both of the girls to the same date at the same time.
